ABOUT MATT

MATT HOOVER is a lifelong resident of Berkeley County who believes deeply in the value of community, service, and stewardship. Berkeley County isn’t just where Matt lives—it’s where he has built his family, his faith, his career, and his livelihood.

MATT AND HIS WIFE, Elisabeth, are raising their two sons, Samuel (Sam) and Joseph (Joe), in the same community that raised him. Their family is active at Cypress Methodist Church, where Matt has served for more than 20 years as a trustee and chair of the administrative council. His faith has long shaped his commitment to service and to putting others first.

MATT'S INVOLVEMENT in Berkeley County extends well beyond his church. He has served on the Tri-County Forestry Association Board and the St. John’s Christian Academy Board, and he is a member of the Berkeley County Farm Bureau. He also previously served on the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Advisory Board, working alongside local leaders to support public safety and community trust.

AN ENTREPRENEUR AT HEART, Matt built a successful commercial insurance agency right here in Berkeley County. After years of growing the business and serving local clients, he sold the agency in 2024—bringing with him firsthand experience in job creation, responsible growth, and the challenges facing small businesses.

FARMING HAS ALWAYS BEEN part of Matt’s life. He currently farms in Berkeley County, growing corn, soybeans, oats, and sunflowers, continuing a lifelong connection to the land and to the agricultural heritage that remains vital to the region’s economy and way of life.

MATT IS ALSO DEEPLY INVESTED IN THE FUTURE GENERATION. He has been active in coaching youth sports in the community and most recently served as Head Coach of the St. John’s Christian Academy JV Football Team in 2025. Whether on the field or off, he believes in teaching teamwork, accountability, and leadership by example.

MATT HOOVER'S STORY IS ONE OF COMMITMENT—to family, faith, hard work, and Berkeley County. Those values continue to guide his desire to serve and to ensure the community remains a place where families, businesses, and farms can thrive.
